While studying and living in Germany, I was trained by a master photographer on a Petri FT 35mm SLR. Not only did I become quite fluent in German, I also became quite knowledgeable with different photographic techniques, exposure index, film types, lenses, filters, light metering, composition, aperture, color and black and white film processing and printing. In spite of my extensive training, my interest in photography diminished between the time of my undergraduate studies at Tübingen Universität and grad school at Penn State. Actually it was not until after I was introduced to the digital format, almost ten years ago, did my slight interest in the craft grow to an obsession once more.
